1. Your teacher is only a guide. She can offer you suggestions, but the choice is always yours.
2. Always honor and listen to your body. If you feel “sensation”, you should stay. If you feel pain, you should come out of the posture to a degree or completely.
3. Try not to concern yourself with what others in the class are doing. Yoga is a personal practice. We all have different bodies that have had different experiences. There is no place in yoga for comparison or competition.
4. During your practice, your mat becomes your little world. Set an intention for your practice and bring your attention to it often. If you find yourself concerned with things outside of your mat, then focus your mind back to your intention.
5. Try to approach your practice with a sense of gratitude for what you can do. The awesome thing about yoga is that there is always a way to receive benefits from the poses by either modifying them with props or by deepening them with other expressions.
6. Breathe! If you’re not breathing, it’s not yoga.
7. Don’t take it too seriously. Yoga is an amazing, beneficial practice that can transform your body, mind and spirit. But if you fight yourself physically or mentally about it, it defeats the whole purpose.
8. Use your practice as a way to get to know yourself better. Become an observer of yourself with no judgment at all. Notice what is going on with your body and your mind, accepting yourself while changing what you can.
9. If you have questions, ask them! Yoga teachers became yoga teachers because they wanted to help people.
10. Remember that the work you do on your mat is just like the work you do in your life. There will be good days and better days. Honor yourself for using your time to keep your body and mind healthy and clean and happy.

Wednesday 12:15 pm Yin Yoga with Jessy
Thursday 7:15 pm Meditation Class with Cindy
*Yin Yoga will help your body find openings in the body through stillness. You will get very deep in the postures by holding them for an extended amount of time while supported by props and guided by hands-on adjustments and massage. This is a restorative practice.
